Student Welfare
|
The school has a Student Management Co-ordinator (Senior Management level) and also employs a Student Wellbeing Advisor to ensure that the needs, both academically and socially, of all students are met in the most appropriate and beneficial manner within our resources. The following programs are offered at Mount Pleasant Primary School:
Our Early Intervention - Reading Recovery Program identifies and provides individual learning to assist students at risk in Year 1. In most cases such early identification and intervention provide students with the skills they require to resume and experience success in mainstream classes. The Students At Educational Risk Program targets students who are experiencing difficulties in the literacy and numeracy areas in Years 2 to Year 6. The program links students to support services and identifies and provides such students with Individual Learning Programs to assist them in the areas where they are experiencing difficulties. An additional component of this school’s Student Welfare Program is the fortnightly Friendship Groups Program. This program places children in multi-aged groups to encourage support and friendship. It also provides students with an adult whom they can turn for support and/or advice. The program provides students with the opportunity to share experiences and to develop lasting relationships throughout their school life.
