Student Code of Conduct

Mount Pleasant Primary School has a Student Code of Conduct designed to ensure the safety and well being of all pupils. Children will be periodically briefed on these rules by their class teachers. It would be appreciated if parents would support teachers by encouraging their children to behave in an acceptable manner.

 Our policy is based on the following rights:

  • All children have the right to be treated with respect and courtesy;
  • All children have the right to work and play without interference;
  • A safe, attractive and well maintained school environment;
  • The Security of their Property.

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment the following behaviour is not acceptable:

  • Verbal harassment;
  • Unacceptable verbal language;
  • Throwing stones or any dangerous objects;
  • Running in the Quiet Area, around buildings, in passages, etc.;
  • Climbing trees, fences or buildings;
  • Riding bikes through the school grounds;
  • Entering buildings, other than the library, during lunch and recess times;
  • Leaving the school yard without permission;
  • Skateboards, roller skates or rollerblades in the school ground;
  • Fighting, hitting or using any form of aggressive behaviour;
  • Playing with sticks;
  • Dangerous objects being brought to school.

A copy of the Mount Pleasant Primary School Student Code of Behaviour is periodically distributed to parents and children. Additional copies are available on request.

We also have a very strong focus on rewarding good behaviour and positive efforts in the classroom and school playground. This is achieved in many ways including the issuing of certificates to children at whole school assemblies.
